Gentle Monster isn’t the only eyewear brand coming out of Korea.
Meet Ginger Eyewear, a Korean brand making its mark with a distinctly unique identity.

Ginger Eyewear is a brand launched in Seoul in 2018 by a director with a background in furniture design.
As the name suggests, the brand’s core motif is ginger.
Just like ginger adds depth and harmony to a dish while keeping its bold, distinct flavor, the brand creates items that seamlessly blend into daily life while leaving a memorable impression.
Ginger Eyewear brings that exact ethos into their frames.
Their showroom, ‘Ginger House,’ is nestled in Seochon, Seoul.
While it’s a great spot to browse glasses, it’s an even better place to experience the brand’s philosophy and aesthetic firsthand.
If you’re ever in Seochon, I highly recommend stopping by.

Yellow Carpet and Hans Wegner at Artek
Step into the showroom, and you’ll be welcomed by a bright yellow carpet and curated Nordic furniture.
From Hans Wegner sofas to Artek tables and stools, thoughtfully collected pieces give the entire space a cozy, cohesive feel.
The space itself is just as captivating as the eyewear—it feels like the frames and the space coexist effortlessly.
You can truly sense the founder’s personal taste throughout the showroom.

Ginger Tea at Ginger Eyewear
As you look around, the staff offers you a warm cup of ginger tea.
Even though it’s an eyewear brand, they actually serve ginger tea—fitting for a brand named Ginger Eyewear, right? Haha.
They offer drinks like Yuja Ginger Tea and Mint Ginger Tea, which you can try when you visit.
They also sell their own room spray.
If you make a purchase, they spray this signature scent onto the packaging and case, leaving a lovely scent behind that lingers every time you open your glasses case.

Kids-Friendly Space
Exploring the showroom, I noticed subtle details showing how kid-friendly the space is.
It was inspiring to see how much care went into styling every single detail to convey their vision—so very ‘Ginger’.
If you’re traveling in Seoul, especially with young kids, and looking for unique glasses, Ginger Eyewear is the place to be.

Frames with a Touch of Ginger
GNGR frames feel unique, yet they share a very cohesive design language.
People often find the smaller lens size a little intimidating at first, but that feeling disappears the moment they try them on.
I bought the ‘Baker Bold’ model and wear it regularly—it’s become one of my go-to pairs.
It’s distinctive without being over-the-top, making it perfect for daily wear.
Other designs might look challenging on the display, but they look surprisingly natural once worn.
Give them a try, and before you know it, they’ll feel like a natural extension of your face.

Lively and Friendly Instagram
If you want to see how the frames look when styled, I recommend checking out Ginger Eyewear’s Instagram.
Their feed is filled with staff sharing stories behind the designs, introducing new releases, and offering insightful tips that make even “difficult” glasses feel approachable.
True to form, they keep things refreshingly unfiltered, making the brand feel genuine and accessible.

My Wishlist
I’m a huge fan of GNGR frames, and the ‘Ribbon’ in Navy is currently at the top of my wishlist.
You really need to see this one in person—the navy shade is executed so brilliantly.
Navy can easily look tacky, but this pair retains only its best, most refined qualities.
What I love most about GNGR is the contrasting lettering printed on the inside of the temples (their color combinations are exceptional—it’s one of the best parts of visiting the showroom).
This navy frame definitely delivers a timeless, classic feel (I’m almost at checkout).

GNGR New Autumn Releases
They dropped new items for this autumn: the ‘Tofu‘ and ‘Pumpkin‘ models from their Studio Line.
My personal pick is the ‘Tofu‘.
It shares a similar silhouette with the ‘Ribbon’ model but features slightly more angled contours.
It comes in Cacao and Soy Milk—Cacao has a subtle, rich charm in person, while Soy Milk is simply gorgeous.
GNGR has a knack for taking tricky colors and bringing out their best qualities.
Pairing the Soy Milk frame with dark grey tinted lenses would be a great combination.
(By the way, Ginger Eyewear also sells tinted and sunglass lenses!)

House Parties at Ginger House
Ginger House regularly hosts house parties.
They organize bingo games, hand out free ice cream, and offer significant discounts—up to 70% off refurbished items and 30% off regular products.
It’s more than just a retail space; it’s a brand that actively engages with its community through events like these.

GNGR Overseas Pop-ups
Ginger Eyewear regularly holds pop-up stores in Japan, including one in Tokyo this past May.
If you live in Japan and are interested in eyewear, definitely check out their next pop-up.
Personally, I’d love to see Ginger expand even further globally—their distinct aesthetic is something anyone anywhere can appreciate.

That’s my take on Ginger Eyewear.
Truth is, this is a brand I’ve grown deeply fond of by wearing their pieces daily, which is why I was so keen to feature them.
It’s a brand that stays remarkably consistent in delivering what it stands for.
If you’re ever visiting Korea, exploring Seoul, or strolling through Seochon, make sure to drop by.
Gentle Monster is fantastic, of course, but discovering solid, characterful brands like Ginger makes the trip even richer.
Before you know it, you might find yourself owning five pairs of their glasses (I’m already three pairs in).
See you in the next episode. 👋
